Baggage Allowances and Charges on airBaltic flights
1. Hand baggage allowances
Business class passengers:
2 bags (bag + laptop/purse etc) Size: max 55x40x20cm No weight limit
Economy class passengers:
1 bag Size: max 55x40x20cm Weight max up to 8 kgs
+ one tax free purchase bag
2. Checked-in baggage allowances
airBaltic applies weight concept to/from all airBaltic destinations except piece concept when passenger connects to/from Intercontinental flight.
Business class:
free of charge 3 bags
weight up to 60kg for all bags in total
+ one special baggage (only listed items) free of charge
Economy class:
a) Basic fare tickets:
For each checked baggage piece fee applies. Weight up to 20kg.
b) Economy Smart and Economy Elite fare tickets:
1piece of checked baggage within weight up to 20kg is free of charge.
Exceptions:
AB, AF, AZ, A9, B2, FV, HY, J2, KL, OK, OS, PS, SK, SN, SU, UN, code-share passengers pieces and weight according to marketing carrier rules.

3. Baggage charges
Baggage check-in fee
Baggage check-in fee paid before Airport through all other sales channels - EUR 35.00 per bag per direction.
Airport-paid Baggage check-in fee EUR40.00 per bag per direction
Please note! If stopover in transit point more than 24hours than bag fee applies for each flight separately.
Pre-paid baggage check-in fee:
- by agents is collected on manual MPD, automated MCO or EMD. MPD/MCO/EMD number and collected amount shall be inserted in PNR. Pre-paid amount of bags shall be inserted with SRCKIN-CKBG X (where X stands for the pre-paid amount of bags) followed by segment and passenger number e.g. SRCKIN-CKBG 2/S3/P1
airBaltic Website pre-paid together with ticket or pre-paid through “Manage My Booking”.
Amount of bags and total free weight allowance is reflected in SRCKIN-CKBG X – Y KG /S3/P1
(where X stands for the amount of bags and Y for total kg allowance). Followed by segment and passenger number e.g. If no bags pre-paid, PNR will show SRCKIN-CKBG 0
Extra bag pieces purchased through any channel increase allowed weight as follows:
1 bag = 20 kg 2 bags = 40kg 3 bags = 60kg 4 bags = 80kg 5 bags = 100kg

SRCKIN-CKBG2 – 40KG /P3/S4 2 bags paid 40kg in total
Excess kilo charges
Pre-paid – only on BT website passengers can pay for extra +5, +10 or +15 kgs per direction.
SSR line in PNR will show total baggage allowance.
The rate for extra baggage weight on BT IBE only! is 5 EUR per kg per direction.
Airport-paid - each kilo above allowance – costs EUR 15.00 per kilo per flight leg.
Special baggage charges
Important ! Special baggage charge applies only for listed equipments, other items exceeding allowance shall be charged based on excess baggage rates.
Special baggage charges apply only to bicycle, golf, ski equipment, snowboard, scuba diving, fishing, windsurfing equipment, surfboard, kite board, ice hockey equipment. (for detailed information please see GGAIRBTBAGGAGE).

For interline journey Most Significant Carrier (MSC) baggage rules and charges should be applied.
Determination of the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) - MSC is:
1. For travel between two or more IATA conference areas: the Carrier performing carriage on the first sector that crosses from one area to another. (E.g. RIX-BT-FRA-LH-MIA) Exception: when crossing IATA areas 1, 2 and 3, the Carrier providing carriage on the first sector that crosses between IATA area 1 and IATA area 2. (E.g. ALA-LH-FRA-AC-YTO)
2. For travel between IATA Tariff sub-areas: the carrier performing carriage on the first sector that crosses from one sub-area to another. (E.g. RIX-BT-FRA-EK-DXB)
3. For travel within a IATA Tariff sub-areas: the Carrier performing carriage on the first international sector. (E.g. RIX-BT-CPH-SK-AMS)
Note! The Most Significant Carrier is determined by the checked portion (for the part of the itinerary, for which the passenger would like to check-in hold baggage)!
Exception! For passengers whose ticketed origin or destination point is a point in U.S. - the first Marketing Carrier may apply its own or MSC baggage rules apply for the whole journey, irrespective of stopovers and - if the sector by which the MSC Carrier is determined is a codeshare flight, the Marketing Carrier rules apply. If the MSC does not publish baggage provisions for the journey concerned apply the published baggage provisions of the Carrier accepting the baggage at check-in.
If the Carrier accepting the baggage at check-in does not publish baggage provisions for the interline journey concerned apply the published baggage provisions of each Operating Carrier sector-by-sector.
Non–standard Baggage – CBBG / XHBG / BULKY
Procedures for non- standard baggage:
1. Extra Seat for cabin Baggage – CBBG
CBBG not limited to cello only. For fragile items, musical instruments – ticket may be bought as for cabin baggage if the item is within maximum noted below. These items must be checked in next to passenger (window seat). Maximum weight can be 32 kg.
Maximum dimensions for CBBG, except cello and guitar: Length x Width x Height:
Boeing: 43 X 45 X 95 cm
Fokker 50 and Bombardier Q400 : 42 X 43 X 85 cm
Maximum dimensions for cello and guitar (including cover) Length x Width x Height:

The booking for the passenger and CBBG has to be done at the same time. The passenger and CBBG has to be in one booking and both the passenger and CBBG have to be paid for and ticketed at the same time.
Maximum one CBBG per adult passenger.
CELLO on certain segments only:
If passenger brings CELLO on some but not all segments, two PNRS must be created.
Existing PNR:
Cancel the PNR and rebook according to current procedure.
How to charge:
The charge for the extra seat will be the FARE plus the YQ tax which would be charged to a passenger occupying such seat(s) for the applicable journey at the time of booking and payment. Other passenger taxes, service charges, security charges, etc. which are applicable to departing passengers are exempted.
How to ticket:
Issue two separate tickets, one for the passenger and another one for the CBBG.
The ticket for the passenger is issued according to the general rules.
Before issuing the ticket for the CBBG, the Fare basis has to be updated with two letter code CB and the airport taxes not to be paid have to be deleted from the TST.

Rebooking/Upgrade/Refund
Change of reservation and refund of the passenger's ticket is according to the Fare rules.
The CBBG ticket is exempt of REISSUE/REBOOKING fees (if applicable), but in case of upgrading to a higher fare, the fare difference has to be collected. Refund according the Fare rules.
2. Extra Hand Baggage – XHBG
Small fragile items, musical instruments which do not need an extra seat, may be allowed to take on board as extra hand baggage for special baggage fee (EUR40– prepaid, EUR60.00– paid at airport) per one way of travel. Maximum 1 extra hand baggage per passenger is allowed, weight of item may not exceed 8 kg and overall dimensions are limited to 50x40x23 cm.
3. Other Non-Standard Baggage
Bulky items, musical instruments etc which do not qualify for cabin baggage and hand baggage, are treated as excess baggage and fee per PIECE/ KG is applicable, if allowance is exceeded.
To check if ok to load in the baggage compartments, maximum dimension tables per aircraft type can be checked.SR BULK – BASS dim x dim x dim/s association must be inserted in PNR. Must be confirmed. Maximum weight 32 kg.
